Excuse my squinty state. Texas is bright! It was a real treat to have so many warm & sunny consecutive days. A nice respite from the often foggy Bay. Sometimes, I feel like I don't get to see the sun for days and it can start to wear on me, but there are also days that I love the fog and the way it rushes over the Bay area like a warm blanket. Though, this is not a post about weather, but rather about appreciating what you have, where you have it. Before this quick vacation, I had not left the Bay area in over a year. It seemed like 2 years ago, all I wanted to do was travel and couldn't stay in the same place for more than a month. Now, I'm greatly contented with having a home and a simple life in a beautiful place. It's interesting how you often have to break away from things to gain a fresh perspective on how much they actually mean to you. I'm currently sipping on a second cup of morning coffee, gazing out my office (see dining room) window, watching the fog slowly burn off of the Oakland hills, grateful to call some place so uniquely beautiful my home. In the car ride home from the airport, my sweetheart looked at me and said, "Let's not live anywhere other than California", and I happily agreed.
I saw your Texas posts from my RSS feed in a snowy cabin in Tahoe, oh how I envy this!!
