If I'm not in my home base of Oakland, I can typically be found at the beach. It's funny, as there's this entire amazing city (San Francisco) that sits between me and the coast of the Pacific, but my time spent there is rather seldom these days. Oakland feels like home, whereas the chilly neighborhood that sits by Ocean Beach feels like my home away from home. When not in it's typical fog blanketed stated, the light from the sea's great reflection makes for some incomparably beautiful days. It's a place where I'm surrounded by people and things that I love and where I can simply relish in the little joys that life has to offer. After being land locked for so many years, taking a 20 minute car ride to the ocean still gives me that righteous energy that I can only compare to that of a little kid about to take a seriously fun vacation.
