IT'S A WASH

Have you ever had one of those days where everything breaks and nothing happens the way you think it's supposed to? That was my yesterday. After surviving a broken sewing machine needle, followed by issues with my studio lights and a broken camera remote, I decided to call the day a wash, stop working, throw on a sassy and weather inappropriate outfit and just enjoy myself over a couple of negroni cocktails and a delicious dinner at one of my favorite San Francisco restaurants, Serpentine. Learning that you can't change everything and that you have to accept life's little mishaps as opportunities rather than catastrophes has been something I've been working on lately. I still have far to go, but I suspect I always will and kind of hope it remains that way so I can continue to live and learn through this life.

  1. I love your sassy outfit. The mix of patterns is perfect. And quite an appropriate backdrop too. I’ve been neglecting my 80s wear recently for 50s prim and 60 minis, but you’ve inspired me to mix it up some more. Keep on the sunny side! xoxo.

  3. I had a REALLY similar day on Tuesday. The broken sewing machine needle was definitely part of it. Glad you called the day a wash, and get to start fresh again today. Sometimes that really is the only solution.

**PS. I wore my Mousevox dress yesterday. http://instagr.am/p/KLY_2IjS-D/ I'm not blogging now, so that's the only pic I have. I will definitely be wearing it again though. I absolutely love it. Thanks doll.

  4. Trust me, I know exactly what you are talking about. I am the queen of catastrophizing. Every time I drive my car in dies at the stop sign. I immediately think it is going to cost hundreds to fix, which is probably true. I basically want to get rid of the car but then I would have no way to flea markets or estate sales.
I have been having trouble with lighting for years, but recently my boyfriend bought a expensive camera and it seems it fixed all my photography problems over night, basically I don't seem to need much lighting at all if I have the right camera.
Its good that you took a break and can keep on the sunny side of life.

  6. Aw what a snazzy outfit; I love the prints that you've mixed! I've definitely had days like those and I just give up and do something completely unrelated... that usually does the trick!
