This weekend was all about sunshine & transformations. For one glorious day, it felt like Summer in the Bay, so I took advantage of the weather and was finally able to wear this amazing top from Fancy Fine without having to cover its loveliness with a jacket or sweater. The cool breeze and the fog blew back into town on Sunday, so after a yummy brunch with my Hummingbird Girls, I spent the remaining part of the day lounging at home, reading and spending some quality time with myself. It was much needed, as I woke up yesterday filled with peace and ready to take on a new week. You see, I've been feeling kind of stuck lately, as though I've been spinning my wheels a bit, doing the same things and expecting different results. Sometimes it just takes something as simple as being with and loving yourself to put things back into perspective. I suspect some much needed and positive changes are now in the mix. At least, it feels this way. I'm more than ready.
I too sometimes feel like I'm in the movie 'groundhogs day' where everything is the same old thing. It's easy to get caught up in that but its important to try and step back and let yourself enjoy the little things more... and remind yourself that you are doing the things you love :)! Glad you feel rejuvenated!

This is so true! I think lately I've just been burning the candle a both ends and taking on more than I should handle. Nothing like a good book, some time alone with your thoughts and a bubble bath to bring on a new perspective, though. Coffee date soon please! xo
Deleteholy wow you make a shirt and jeans look SO good.
ReplyDeleteLove the bamboo print on that top! And I feel like it's a rare occasion when you wear pants, so seeing you in jeans and a tee feels a way more special than most people! (Myself included as I pretty much live in my boyfriend jeans!)
ReplyDeleteIs that a tattoo I spy on your tummy? I don't think I knew you had any!
I do have a tattoo! It's kind of silly, so that's probably why I've never offered to show it to you. Miss you, sweet lady. Let's get together soon for girl talk and taqueria time. xo.
DeleteI love post like these, simple and chic, looking smashing as usual, I got your email about the vintage thing, I will reply soon, I have just been crazy busy lately :)
ReplyDeleteI love how totally chic and casual you look in these photos Rachel. Brunch was seriously yummy, I can't wait to do it again.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Brunch was amazing. I woke up the next day craving that veggie scramble! & I thought of you and your french press schooling while I made my morning coffee. See you soon, sweet pea! xo.
DeleteYou and your style is just mega chic!! And in this post, I'm super in love with your sun shades. Following for sure, and I just cannot wait to see you next style-post! ;)

I love the print on this top, lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour Fancy Fine top is beautiful! Thank so much for stopping by the blog and saying hi, it is still SO exciting when a blogger you seriously admire leaves a comment!
ReplyDeleteAs for earth day every day, I 100% agree! I work in the environmental field, have my B.S. in environmental policy, try to buy locally or second hand whenever possible... the list could go on and on! Glad to find like minded people out there in the world, especially when fashion blogging can oftentimes feed into such unhealthy consumerism!
So glad to hear you are feeling rejuvenated, I myself am on my 10th straight day of work without a break and could REALLY use one of those days!
Hope you're having a great day!

Aw, I'm glad I could bring some happiness into your day. Thank you for bringing some into mine as well!
DeleteEarlier this year, I had to take a step back from blogging and cut back quite a bit because I was feeling overwhelmed by exactly this - the promotion of unhealthy consumerism. I found myself reading so many blogs and thinking, "I wish I could have this or that", but I certainly don't need more stuff. I'm actually proud to say that my entire wardrobe fits onto 1 garment rack and that I'm not constantly overrun by stuff. I'm a minimalist by nature in many ways and that includes my closet! Running a vintage business has helped me keep things fresh, though. I keep a constantly rotating cast of garments around and typically only wear things once or twice while keeping a few staple pieces in the mix. I also resolved to not buy any new clothing for myself this year and to only shop second hand or vintage - so far, it's been successful!
Cheers to you for helping fight the good fight!
such a perfect and chic weekend outfit - it makes me want to go to brunch and then to some thrift stores on a sunny spring saturday - ugh, is it the weekend yet?!
