Hello! I've been meaning to write some sort of post about all of my goals and such for the new year, but each time I've sat down to do so, the words just haven't been able to come to me. It's not that I'm not excited over 2012. In fact, I'm thrilled! I think it's more that I want to be more in the moment with the life that I'm living & the things that I'm doing rather than attempt to sum it all up in a blog post.
While perusing the interwebs the other day for interesting art, I ran across this very inspirational print from a lovely shop called Volume 25 on Etsy. I quickly saved this image to my inspiration folder and it didn't occur to me until tonight that this really embodies everything I want myself & my life to aspire toward in the new year.
Simply put, I want to live more simply. I've managed to maintain a somewhat minimalist lifestyle for several years. Having lots of stuff has always felt more like a burden than a blessing to me. Recently, I've been thinking of ways to continue living this lifestyle and have it be more environmentally conscious. Last month, I touched on a few things that were running through my mind and have decided to use these thoughts to cultivate a more simple and eco-friendly life for myself. I aspire to only purchase clothing & goods that are vintage, secondhand & free of sweatshop production, to continue to feed myself with healthy, locally grown food & to pay closer attention to the products that I use in my home and on my body. So far, it's all been pretty easy. In fact, it's been downright simple!
What are some of your aspirations for the new year?

Those are great goals, and very similar to my goals for the year. I want to continue to be aware of where everything I purchase is coming from (food, clothes, etc), support local vendors as much as possible, and spend a lot less money in general. By spending less I hope to have more time to just be home by myself doing the things that truly make me happy: reading, listening to records, making music and writing.
That's a great resolution! Looking forward to reading about how it works out for you. Mine is very similar. I am remaking my closet with only second-hand store purchases.
Very inspirational. I have been mostly only buying antique/vintage collectables and secondhand items for a while now. I feel like it is a investment. It saves money and helps the environment in the long run.
Those are some really great resolutions! The reason I started buying vintage was actually for environmental and ethical reasons, and now I'm hooked!
Love these goals. Maybe I'm biased because that is also how I try to live. It's easy to get dragged down in culture's expectation to consume new goods and to do so without examining where they came from or how they affect others.
Anyway, glad to see you post them and look forward to future posts on the topic.
I love your blog so much! And the volume 25 print is so cool...I want to buy that now, hahaha...
Anyway, feel free to follow my blog too, but otherwise, keep blogging & I'll keep reading!
What awesome goals! I def have acquired so much more stuff the past months now that I'm not living abroad. Kudos to you for making an effort to live a more simple and eco-friendly life- def something I strive for as well in my purchases and actions so I'm always thrilled to hear others are as well : )
